Opening of the new Moxy Hotel

The new hot spot for modern business and leisure guests offers smart design at affordable prices.

BONN – 30 June 2021 – On 5 July 2021, the GHOTEL Group will be opening the Moxy Cologne Bonn Airport at Konrad Adenauer Airport. The hotel, which has a direct connection to the terminal building, was realised by Art-Invest Real Estate and was completed on schedule after a construction time of 1.5 years. The GHOTEL Group will operate the hotel under a franchise licence from Marriott International.

Moxy Hotels is part of the brand portfolio of the biggest hotel chain in the world, Marriott International, and focuses on the modern business guest. The 5-storey airport hotel at Cologne Bonn has 250 rooms with modern furnishing and stands out with its futuristic, pentagonal cubage, borrowing from the original design of the airport. The lifestyle hotel was realised by the developer Art-Invest Real Estate, one of the leading project developers in Germany, based on a design by JSWD Architects. The fifth floor is the heart of the Moxy Hotel, from where hotel guests and airport visitors have an impressive panoramic view of the airport site and the runway. Another highlight of the hotel is the restaurant Seven Hills, specially developed for the location, with a culinary selection of regional dishes. With seating for 70 and a roof terrace with space for up to 200, the Moxy Hotel also provides an exclusive venue for celebrations and events of all kinds.

Thanks to the excellent local public transport connections, Cologne’s city centre can be reached in just 15 minutes, and Bonn in less than half an hour. Guests travelling by car can park in one of approximately 6,000 parking spaces in the airport's P1 and P2 multi-storey car parks, which are within walking distance of the Moxy Hotel. “As a Cologne based company, realising the Moxy at Cologne Bonn Airport is especially important to us. With its unique location, the distinctive architecture and the high building quality, we have created an outstanding hotel that we are now handing over to the excellent stewardship of the operator with great optimism,” underlined Dr Peter Ebertz, CEO and Head of Hotels at Art-Invest Real Estate.

“We are delighted that our first project in cooperation with Marriott has turned into such a unique hotel that will be the new hot spot at Cologne Bonn Airport with its architecture and special concept. For us, the Moxy is a milestone and catalyst for the further expansion of the GHOTEL Group as a flexible multi-brand operator,“ Erik Florvaag, Managing Director of the GHOTEL Group, says about the opening. “It's fortuitous that the opening of the Moxy at Cologne Bonn Airport coincides exactly with the start of the summer holidays in North Rhine-Westphalia, when there will be more travellers at the airport again. Passengers who use the hotel for an overnight stay at Cologne Bonn in future can walk to the terminal in just a few minutes. This exceptional lifestyle hotel is a big win for the airport,” says Johan Vanneste, President and CEO of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH.
